I can think of very few people who perform with the same astounding energy as Bruno Mars. Beginning his performance of “24K Magic” in a judge’s chair and backed by three other performers, he delivered the song with incredible dynamism during this week’s broadcast of The Voice.
Dancing across the stage, engaging with both the audience and the camera (for the audience at home), Mars drew large cheers from the dancing crowd. He made sure to visit every corner of the performance space, keeping the crowd on its feet (literally). His song sounded as great as ever — unaffected by the not-always-easy tasks of managing audio quality that artists and their teams face when performing on television.
I love Bruno Mars because he is a multi-faceted talent. He writes or co-writes all of his own songs, and he has been a songwriter for other artists, gifting the world hits like Adele’s “All I Ask,” CeeLo Green’s “Fuck You,” and “Lift Off” by Beyonce and Jay-Z. He is a producer and choreographer; not only a singer, but a performer. I mean, just watch his newly released Carpool Karaokevideo with James Corden. Mars is sitting in a car, and he still makes me want to get up and dance. He radiates joy, and it is infectious.
Mars will be embarking on a massive world tour in 2017, stopping in LA on November 7th, 8th, 10th, and 11th. I am so looking forward to it!
Cheers to a great 2017, Bruno!
